Albatrosses in Amchitka Pass

Posted 08.03.04 at 10:05 pm
Location: Crossing Amchitka Pass

albatrossAgain we’re seeing low-hanging clouds and fog—with some sparkling moments of sunshine. Researcher Scott France took this photo of a Laysan Albatross, a seabird with a 6-foot wingspan, one of many we saw. We’re on our way now to the next site, near Semisopochnoi Island, where Jason II will be diving near underwater volcanoes. Photo courtesy of SCOTT FRANCE
