“Geology Dives,” Day 2

Posted 08.01.04 at 3:12 am
Location: Continuing to transit N and S over Adak Canyon

The day has been a little bit rainy—with some nice views of volcanoes in the distance when the skies clear. For now, the geology team is using the ship’s multibeam sonar to gather maps of the dramatic canyon deep below us (for work not directly related to the coral research). More on that and other exploration soon!
