Melting glaciers may lead to more quakes
Recently published NASA-USGS research suggests that retreating glaciers in southern Alaska may be opening the way for future earthquakes.
As glaciers melt and lighten their load on the Earth’s crust, tectonic plates (mobile pieces of the Earth’s crust), can move more freely, explains information on the NASA Goddard site.
